ABOUT US

brooksBROOKS "The Brick" VAN HOLT

A notorious Sonoma county bicycle "tweaker", Brooks started his mechanic career in 1989 at Pedal Pusher building bikes for Frank. Even though mountain bikes were all the rage, this fledgling "wrench" fell in love with the spirit possessed by the lugged steel road bike. He then spent several years working at North Valley Bikes in Chico doing bicycle assembly, repair, and sales for another guy named Frank. Kind of creepy, eh? He moved back to Santa Rosa in 1996 and was hired at ZAP to develop the "Electric Law Enforcement Bicycle Program". After ZAP was taken over by the "dark forces" in late 1999, Brooks abandoned ship and took a job with Smith and Wesson selling Police bikes in Massachusetts. He discovered early on that the East Coast did not agree with him culturally or climatically, so he moved back to Santa Rosa, again, and started selling used bikes and related "schwag". Bicycles are in his blood, and he has spilt many drops of blood via skinned knuckles putting bikes together and pulling them apart. Brooks receives orders directly from "The Czar" and believes strongly in the Czar's vision of bringing order to the used bicycle world.

chadCHAD "The Masher" GALLAGHER

Chad brings a curious fusion of the BMX and surfing worlds to Bicycle Czar. He has been quickly transformed from bicycle "barney" to expert technician by the Czar's rigorous 37 step bicycle emersion program. He grew up on the tough streets of Cottonwood California and has adapted well to the demanding BC work environment. As with most surfers, his first love is for the ocean, but he also realizes that terrestrial activities such as cycling are far more accessible and easier to incorporate into one's daily life. He can be seen cruising up and down the Santa Rosa railroad tracks as he commutes back and forth to work on his Redline single speed. Strengthening his legs and lungs while simultaneously reducing stress on our planet and his pocket book. His years as a small business owner have prepared him well for providing quality service to all Bicycle Czar customers. He knows that the success of this enterprise hinges on the ability of the BC crew to forge quality relationships with both buyers and sellers. He sets a good example for us all with his dedicated work ethic, positive attitude, and his strong belief in the vision of bringing order to the used bicycle world. The Czar will not be satisfied until Chad's passion for the surf is rivaled by that of the bicycle.

joshJOSHUA "The Geek" TALBOT

Josh's association with Czar was born out of slight commonality. Raised by a pack of Russian wolves, he carries a strong talent for visual design as well as an uncanny ability to quickly dismantle black market heavy fire-arms. The Czar supplied him with his first road bike. And with it came a love for the open road, riding with friends and ditching the gas guzzler for a better mode of transportation. He's passionate about the daily bike commute, a well mixed Kahlúa & milk and good music. When he's not glued to a computer screen you'll find him perfecting the science of time travel, building Lego with his son or roasting "mellows" on the fire.
